Emma Luker

Current Work: Emma is currently a Planning Analyst in UBC’s Campus + Community Planning Department, with a dual role in the Public Engagement and Sustainability + Engineering units. She plans and develops content for the range of public consultations surrounding UBC’s strategic projects, and also assists in the scoping and development of emerging policy and plans for the University, such as the Urban Forest Management Plan.

Bio: Emma completed her Masters of Science (MSc) in Resource Management and Environmental Studies in 2017, under the supervisorship of Drs. Leila Harris and Mark Johnson. She was awarded an NSERC grant and International WaTERS Fellowship to complete her graduate research, which focused on groundwater governance in Cape Town, South Africa, amidst a serious drought that incited an unforeseen water supply crisis. Following her graduate degree, Emma worked for the City of Vancouver on a portfolio of sustainability projects and green infrastructure research.

Emma graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Science (BA&Sc Hons.) in Environmental Studies and International Development from McGill University in 2014. Between her undergraduate and graduate degrees Emma worked in several different professional settings, such as a peace and conflict NGO in Colorado, U.S.A, and a renewable energy consulting company in Yokohama, Japan.
