Dr.Tremblay attended the Better Futures Network in Rio de Janeiro, November 24th-28th, 2013 hosted by the Carleton Centre for Community Innovation (CCCI) of Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, in partnership with COEP (Comitê de Entidades no Combate contra a Fome e Pela Vida – the Committee of Entities in the Struggle against Hunger and for Life) based in Brazil. The Forum included case studies from around the world focused on the exchange of knowledge to strengthen sustainable communities: building on what now exists and generating new knowledge of livelihoods, the social economy, active citizenship and social and technical innovations. Dr. Tremblay presented research on sustainable waste management practices in São Paulo, and on using Participatory Video as a tool for social transformation and political action. Dr.Tremblay also presented her doctoral research on Participatory Video at a seminar at the University of São Paulo on December 5th, 2013.  The Seminar was attended by students, professors, project participants and local community.
