The Peter Wall Institute invites you to attend a public event “What is ‘Healthy’ Water? Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Water Security”. This evening is part of a Peter Wall Exploratory Workshop on Water and Innovation organized by Dr. Karen Bakker and Dr. Leila Harris.

Multiple threats to water security are raising concern about the sustainability of water supplies – both locally and globally. This session brings together scholars with three distinct perspectives, from the sciences (Biochemistry and Molecular Biology), medicine (Public Health) and the humanities (Anthropology).  Panelists will debate our shifting understandings of water, health and disease, placing BC issues in global perspective.
Speakers:  Brett Finlay, Peter Wall Institute, Michael Smith Labs and Dept. Microbiology & Immunology, UBC; David Groenfeldt, Water-Culture Institute, University of New Mexico;Lalita Bharadwaj, Public Health, University of Saskatchewan.
Discussant:  Margaret Catley-Carlson, Global Water Partnership
