EDGES welcomes new member Kiely McFarlane

Kiely McFarlane
The EDGES team welcomes a new member – Kiely McFarlane! Kiely will be doing her PhD at the Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability with Dr. Leila Harris and the Res’Eau network on small water systems governance and changes related to updates to the provinces Water Sustainability Act. Kiely will be funded through her involvement with the Res’Eau network. She was also recently named as a recipient of the Tim and Ann O’Riordan Fellowship in Sustainable Development at Green College at the University of British Columbia. This fellowship will support her work on governance rescaling under British Columbia’s new Water Sustainability Act, and the opportunities that the Act provides for local governance capacity building and transformations in water management practices. Her research project will address both the development of the Act (including its drivers and consultation processes) and its outcomes for communities/authorities seeking governance reform. The implications of the Act for First Nations’ roles in water governance, and source water protection in small communities will be of particular interest.

Welcome, Kiely!
