Leila Harris Receives PWAIS Fellowship for Africa Project

Leila Harris has recently been awarded a “Visiting Scholar Abroad” fellowship from the Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies  for work on water access and governance in South Africa. Awardees are chosen for ‘outstanding and transformative research which will have an impact in terms of addressing an important science or humanities issue in the host country.”  In addition to ongoing research with the EDGES team on water issues in informal settlements of Cape Town, Professor Harris will also be using the award to advance collaborations with Professor Jacqueline Goldin (SADC WaterNET chair for water and society) and the Anthropology of Water research group  (AOW) at the University of the Western Cape. In particular, Professors Harris and Goldin are working together to advance an international network on water issues and also to promote research capacity on water issues for the Southern Africa development region.
