World Water Day 2012 – Vancouver public events

The Program on Water Governance is collaborating with a number of other organizations to organize a series of public events in celebration of UN World Water Day, March 22, 2012. These events are part of Downstream: Re-imagining Water, a research creation project on water politics.

The upcoming public events include:

Wednesday evening, March 21, 2012 – Roundhouse Community Centre
7:00pm Opening Event: Bodies of Water
Opening by elder Florence James
Public Dance Performance and Workshop by Seonagh Odhiambo and her troupe
Asava Dance at the Roundhouse Community Centre, followed by reception
Includes excerpt of the film ‘imush q’uyatl’un by Florence James and Karolle Wall

Thursday evening, March 22nd, 2012 –  Lecture Theatre SB 301, Emily Carr University of Art and Design, Granville Island
7:00 – 8:30 pm On Edge Readings and Special Screening
Readings by Lee Maracle and Michael Blackstock, followed by the screening of Samaqan: Water Stories with Director Jeff Bear
